Awards and nominations | Articles and interviews Richard Grieco on Web Richard Grieco's Biography
Grieco, who was born in Watertown, NY., acquired aptitude for both acting and athletics in his high school years. Though his talent in football bought him a scholarship to Central Connecticut College, he later opted for acting when he left college after two years. He was then picked up by the Elite Modeling Agency, and modeled for Calvin Klein, Armani and Chanel. Though lucrative, modeling quickly proved distasteful for Grieco. He began to study acting under Alice Spieack, Wally Strauss and in the Warren Robertson Theatre Workshop. And soon, he was performing in such New York productions as Orphans, Golden Boy and A Street Car Named Desire. Grieco's first television audition led to a year-long stint on One Life To Live as the skiing playboy, Rick Gardner. Grieco moved to Los Angeles in 1987 and earned guest starring roles on numerous series including Who's the Boss?, Rags to Riches, The Big Apple Blues and The Bronx Zoo. Then, a guest starring role in Fox's 21 Jump Street led to a year long contract with the show as the tough talking, leather clad Dennis Booker. Spinning off his own series, Grieco became the star of Fox's Booker. In 1991, he received ShoWest's "Male Star of Tomorrow" award from the National Association of Theater Owners (NATO). That same year he made his debut in the James Bond spoof If Looks Could Kill. Additional films have included Mobsters, with Christian Slater, Tomcat: Dangerous Desires, and the upcoming Bolt, costarring Sean Young. Grieco's telefilms include acclaimed turns in Sin and Redemption and Born To Run, which was released theatrically overseas. In January, he will star in USA Network's A Vow To Kill. In addition to his film and television talents, Grieco is enjoying a burgeoning music career. After a year of sold-out live performances at The Whiskey and other Los Angeles nightclubs, Grieco signed with Edel Records. His first single "Voice With No Name" was released this year, and the album, "Waiting For the Sky To Fall," was released in November. A race car enthusiast and owner of seven Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Grieco also enjoys writing, painting and poetry. He hopes one day to publish a hard cover book of poetry entitled "Fragments from a Dirty Ashtray." Source is Hawaii Online (http://http://planet-hawaii.com) |
